FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE STATE OF IMPLEMENTATION

The state and restoration needs of old gravel extraction sites have been assessed in the SOKKA project. In land use planning, increased attention is paid to geological sites that are valuable for the landscape and nature conservation. A report and GIS data set on blockfield sites of national value were completed in 2019. Based on the inventory, 472 blockfields were considered nationally valuable. The guidelines for the extraction of earth materials were updated in 2020. A government decree on criteria for assessing the end of classifying crushed concrete as waste was prepared, and the decree entered into force in 2022.
