Vantaa River Gypsum Project

DESCRIPTION OF ACTION

In the project, approximately 3,500 hectares of fields will be treated with gypsum in the catchment area of the Vantaa river. In addition, the project will monitor the effects of gypsum treatment on the water quality and fish stocks in the Vantaa river. The water quality will be monitored at the Lepsämäenjoki monitoring station. The project consortium comprises the John Nurminen Foundation, the Water Protection Association of the River Vantaa and Helsinki Region (VHVSY), the University of Helsinki and the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).
