DESCRIPTION OF ACTION
Regulation relating to ship-to-ship oil cargo transfer operations between oil tankers (STS transfers) under the MARPOL 73/78 Convention was transposed into national legislation in Finland with the amendment to the Act on Environmental Protection in Maritime Transport, which entered into force on 1 July 2017. In addition to the requirements set in the MARPOL Convention, the Act lays down additional restrictions on STS transfers.
