Raseborg River Project

DESCRIPTION OF ACTION

The project comprehensively assesses the situation of the Raseborg river catchment and seeks to target water protection towards those farms and measures that can bring the highest benefit, i.e. the highest reduction in nutrient emissions in the Barösund coastal water area. The long-term objective of the project is to promote sustainable agriculture that enhances nutrient cycling and to create the conditions for the improvement of the ecological status of the Bärosund marine area. The ecological status of the Raseborg river will also improve. The project will use gypsum, structure lime or zero fibre according to the choices made by the farmers involved. Further funding for the project has been applied for from the Water Protection Programme for the years 2021–2022.
